Park Maintenance Operator (Biotech)

Job Description and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, delegate, and supervise daily tasks for Park Maintenance Workers

  • Conduct daily observations and regular maintenance of the park facilities, including cleaning, repairs, cutting grass, trimming trees, laying sod, snow removal and ensuring all equipment is in working order.

  • Responsible for maintaining the pool, which includes inspecting and repairing the pumps, filters, skimmers, and drainage systems, as well as winterizing the pool and preparing it for use in the Spring.

  • Providing comprehensive care to the animals at the Domestic Game Farm (Elk, Bison)

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on small equipment and buildings, including tasks such as fixing leaks, unclogging drains, replacing light fixtures, resetting circuit breakers.

  • Safely operate various power mobile equipment, including skid steers, gators, lawn tractors, fuel trucks, and similar machinery.

  • Perform Janitorial and Sanitation Functions: pick up and dispose of garbage and debris.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent; An acceptable combination of education, training and experience will be considered

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in park maintenance or landscaping related duties.

  • Minimum one-year supervisory experience.

  • Valid Class 5 Operator's License

  • Related Journeyperson trade, pool operator course, and experience with Fall Protection, Skid Steer and SCOT (Safety Construction Orientation Training including WHMIS) is an asset.

  • Experience in operating lawn care equipment and hand-held power tools as well as troubleshooting and performing light mechanical repairs.

  • Able to meet the physical demands of the position including standing, walking, sitting, climbing, crawling, kneeling, bending, moderate to heavy lifting and pushing and pulling up to 50 pounds throughout the day.

  • Willing and able to work in variable weather conditions.
