The Role:

The Cloud Security Analyst is responsible for safeguarding the organization's cloud infrastructure—primarily within Azure and AWS—by proactively monitoring, assessing, and responding to security threats. This role ensures the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of cloud-based systems through continuous log analysis, incident response, policy enforcement, and vulnerability management. Working closely with IT, DevOps, and compliance teams, the Cloud Security Analyst designs and implements robust security frameworks, maintains regulatory compliance, and promotes secure cloud practices across the organization. By staying abreast of evolving cyber threats and cloud security trends, this role plays a key part in maintaining a secure and resilient cloud environment that supports business operations.

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Continuously analyze logs and alerts for suspicious activity across cloud platforms (Azure, AWS)
  • Monitor and manage Azure security tools, including Microsoft Defender for Cloud, Sentinel, and Entra ID (Azure AD)
  • Investigate and respond to security incidents in real-time
  • Implement and Enforce Security Policies
  • Apply and maintain access controls, encryption, and identity management protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA)
  • Conduct regular security assessments and audits across Azure/AWS resources (VMs, Storage, Databases, etc.).
  • Identify vulnerabilities in cloud infrastructure.
  • Design, implement, and enforce security policies, configurations, and standards within the Azure/AWS ecosystems
  • Evaluate risk levels and recommend mitigation strategies
  • Manage Security Tools and Platforms
  • Collaborate with IT, DevOps and compliance teams to align security with business operations
  • Support secure configuration and deployment of applications in the cloud
  • Lead incident response efforts for cloud-related breaches
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement preventive measures
  • Audit and Compliance Reporting
  • Maintain logs and evidence of security controls and activity
  • Stay Current on Emerging Threats
  • Track cloud security trends, vulnerabilities, and best practices
  • Recommend updates to tools and practices accordingly
  • Train and Educate Teams
  • Provide guidance to staff on secure use of cloud services
  • Help build a security-conscious culture within the organization

 


Qualifications:

 

  • 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity with a focus on cloud environments, especially Azure and AWS
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong understanding of Azure security services (Defender, Sentinel, Microsoft Purview, Key Vault, etc.)
  • Experience with incident response, threat detection, and SIEM/SOAR solutions
  • Proficient in scripting or automation (PowerShell, Azure CLI)
  • Hands-on experience with identity and access management in Azure (RBAC, Conditional Access)
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust principles and secure cloud architecture
  • Knowledge of networking and firewall configuration in cloud environments
  • Knowledge of Windows Server platforms: Windows 2019, Windows 2022
  • Hands on experience with:
    • Windows server roles such as Active Directory, Group Policies
    • Microsoft Azure
    • AWS
    • Networking, VLANs, VPNs
    • Microsoft SQL Server
    • Microsoft 365
    • Microsoft Sentinel
    • IAM (Identity and Access Management)
    • Encryption, key management and data protection in cloud
    • Container and Kubernetes security
  • Knowledge of SOC2 compliance framework considered an asset
